How The Historical Town Fortified Bonds

Finally got the pics! :)
Anyway, our Malacca trip was last Friday, the 4th of December 2009.
That Friday morning Tasya, Zetty & myself headed to Fadi's place with our luggage & sleeping bags, waited for Fadi to freshen up, met her mom & cute little nephew Nabil ! As all was set, we got the show on the road, Fadi drove us there. In the car was when I started "Hachooming" by the way. The beginning of a slight misfortune for me during & AFTER the trip. Grrr.

I joked about not sleeping in the car assuming the journey was gonna be really brief, ironically I was the only one who fell asleep, granting Zetty the EVIL opportunity to snap my snoozes. And no, I will NOT post those photos here :) Fadi, on the other hand, didn't have enough sleep, she risked the heck out of our lives! LOL, we kept feeling the car sway left & right, it was scary. Tasya who was her co-captain was afraid to even blink throughout the whole journey. HAHA.

We reached Fadi's apartment near MMU that evening, kept our bags, relaxed for a while, re-freshened up & headed out for lunch at the Jusco food court. Did a little shopping here & there, mostly eye art as I like to call it, haha ;)

Later on, Fadi brought us to Jonker Walk. Pretty similar to Petaling Street in KL and the night market in Batu Ferringgi in Penang. It was nice, a lot of souvenir-like stuff. Nothing I was interested in buying. We were on a budget trip anyway, so only necessary stuff we'd buy. And yes eye art is necessary, so shut it :) I think Tasya took quite a lot of photos of Jonker, but I didn't want to flood this post with them. The photo above, we took next to Jonker. The Malacca river where they have cruises around town for tourists, which we didn't go on. But it was no doubt, a noteworthy view that night.

If you notice, there's the Eye On Malaysia at the background, situated near the Menara Taming Sari, another modern Malacca tourist attraction. Modern, as in richer in the technology sense & costs more to go on. However, we decided to do it the traditional way, by feet & by car. Whoots!

Had dinner at some floating restaurant that night, called Tom Yam Classic, I think. Food was great, I had Tom Yam soup kueh teow, which was unfortunately cold! The kitchen was like a mile a way from the customer tables area, I guess by the time they reached us, the ceiling fans the waiters had to pass under on their way had already chilled the soup. That sucked, BIG time.

Whatevahh, we then went for a midnight movie & watched Couples Retreat. Starring Vince Vaughn , Jason Batemen, & Jon Favreau. I thought Vince & Jon were pretty hott in the film. Yeah, they're not the typical forever-praised-for-their-looks type, but they can be attractive in so many ways Vince rocks :) The movie's not much of an adventure nicely laid out storyline type, a lot of comedy though. That was entertaining enough. Movie ended, back to the apartment! We slept really late, almost 5am.

Obviously woke up really late the next day, almost 1pm. Went out for the town tour. Basically, we parked at the Pahlawan Mall, and walked around town the whole day. They had 'Macarena' blasting out of the speakers at the mall, I can assure you, Zetty & Tasya were dancing their butts off in their own minds. HAHA. I know I was.

Walked to the Malacca Museum. Didn't go in just yet. Headed straight to the Cendol stall across the road, coz Fadi wouldn't stop talking about how good it was. She was damn right. The cendol rocked our socks. Well, except for Zetty of course, she had ABC. Not a cendol fan, haha. But man, it was so relaxing, the view, the wind, the cendol. It was a short moment in paradise.

Ohh, and speaking of Zetty, there was a group of her fans at the table next to us. Why, coz they thought she looked like Yuna, that sensational malay singer, whom I can't remember the name of her songs. I've heard her songs though, they're really good. It was really funny coz I had already noticed them starring at Zetty from when we first stepped foot in front of the stall.

After Cendol, we checked out the line up of stalls in front of the museum. Loads of souvenirs, & again bumped into those Zetty fans. Found out that Tasya actually knew one of them, & that's when the whole Yuna thing went public. HAHAHA. Hilarious shizz man.

Continued walking. It was quite an exercise for us, which was a good thing of course. Burnt some FATS. Woohoo! Spent the rest of the day taking pictures here & there at various places & exhibits around town. This train photo is my favourite so far. See Zetty's sad face , me & Tasya's pose, so advert-like. Haha. It was like we had a fan blowing on set, look at Tasya's dress! Whoosh!

I can't remember the name of this place, HAHA. But there were a lot of bechas passing by along the road. All the bechas were decorated with flowers & lights. We noticed how they compete for customers through their choice of music which they blast out loud as heck on speakers. YES on the becha LOUD music. There was this one Pakcik who had Jay Sean's 'Down' playing, amazeballs! Rock on Pakcik! Some kept it traditional though, with Malaysian oldies.

The ship, which after years of visiting Malacca since I was child, I had only found out that day, that we have to pay to go in. HAHA. So photos we took, instead of checking out the inside.

That night Fadi brought us to have grilled fish! Again I can't remember the name of the place, haha sorry! I'll edit this as soon as I get in touch with Zetty or Tasya. Awesome place. They have a variety of grilled seafood restaurants lined up. Up to you in choosing which one you want to dine at. They have the seafood laid out on ice for us to choose. And the price goes by the kilograms. We had grilled stingray & flour-dipped squid with nasi lemak & salted fish kailan. HEAVEN. Tried coconut jelly for the first time that night. YUM!

At the apartment that night, we had maggi for supper. Seriously, I can never get bored of a maggi conference. Fadi actually walked to the grocery store at 2am to get us some milk & Oreos. Stayed up almost the whole night talking about everything. Laughed heck of a LOT. Loved every second of it.

The next day, we all packed up & headed to Malacca Central. Had lunch there before we left.
It was time to leave Fadi. Aww, so sad :( As short & nearby as the trip was, it is definitely a good start to our future travels together. Love my girls & looking forward to more of what we had in the Historical Town :)

This post was tiring. LMAO. Extracts happy though.
Till then
