Thoughts on Idol Finale

So, I wasn't too excited to watch the American Idol result show coz the final performance night was a tad ho-hum. In other words, dull. As heck. I was really excited for Lee, was routing for him the whole time. Watched the performance with my mom who's a huge Crystal fan. Before the show, I kept telling her, "I'm so sure Lee's gonna win no matter what?". Determined I was, to witness Lee kill it that night like he did last week. And every time Crystal sang she'd rub in my face, " See! She's so much better, she's gonna win, she's gonna win". LOL, shut up already.

Ryan mentioned that each of them were gonna perform 3 songs.
(1) Their favourite song throughout the season.
(2) Song picked by Producer, Simon Fuller and
(3) The winning song

One of Lee's best performances.

Knowing Lee's history throughout the show for his commendable taste in song choices, I just knew he was taking it home for sure! And, I was wrong. LOL. He went first, and of ALL songs he picked the LEAST entertaining. The Boxer? He would've nailed it if he picked Hey Jude or Still The One. In fact, even last week's Simple Man was better. I don't know, I guess like Simon said maybe he was nervous (which is usually an annoying excuse but Lee's just too adorably exceptional, haha). That night, I genuinely thought Crystal was gonna win. I think a lot of people thought it too.

I woke up at 9am the next day, managed to watch the last bit of it. This year's result show definitely did NOT live up to the past finales. Or maybe it just felt that way coz last year's was just too amazing with Adam Lambert's theatrical super powers. I did like a few of the performances though. I LOVE that Beegees performed, they give me goosebumps every time I see or hear them. Sad that there's only 2 of them left now. Also, Crystal's duet with Alanis Morissette was off the hook!

Simon's definitely going to be missed

But I gotta say, Simon's tribute videos & performances were the best part of the night. I think I cried during the performance of the past winners, and when the contestants from various seasons came in. Damn, I was in my kaftan with my bed hair crying in the living room alone (thank God). Coz no one was home & my brother was still asleep. It was overwhelming to see every single Idol winner there for Simon's farewell. Everyone except David Cook was there. Sad :( Miss seeing Taylor Hicks! He was so good during his season, and when he got out his album was blah. Pretty much a waste.

Final two. Crystal's awesome nonetheless.

OMG, pants on the ground & William Hung, wth? Hahaha. I know it's funny and all, but they make such a joke of these poor people, haha. I was totally digging the dancers & their boxers though. Kinda added a little excitement there. It was funny that this year's finale theme was what, students? All in their cute little uniforms, haha. So Harry Potter-ish.

Kudos to Lee DeWyze! :)

Ahh well, Lee won! Happy for him. Farah and I were laughing when Ryan announced the winner, coz Lee couldn't stop moving around. We were reminiscing the moment when Kris Allen won, he was just like :O and he was stable again. Lee was like making rounds on the stage. So funny! Ryan made the moment so awkward when he kept asking, "How does it feel to be an American Idol?", "How were you feeling when I mentioned your name?". LOL, the guy's shocked, what else is there to say. "I don't know!" Thank you everyone thank you everyone and thank you everyone.

Ohh one more thing! Is it just me or does Lee's winning song sound pretty similar to U2's Beautiful Day? Or is there some kinda news I didn't know about, that maybe there's some sort of connection between the songs? Hahhh, I like it :)

Till then

OMG, haha I seriously didn't notice the lyrics. I just assumed it sounded similar. Haha! So weird, I thought they usually get an original?
Now they're singing covers? Slightly unexciting, yeah they SHOULD let the contestants write their own songs.
