Twilight Screening

So yesterday 26th of November, was the screening of Twilight!!

I was told that the Cinema Online ticket redemption booth is open from 7 to 8.30pm. Afi & I arrived at Cathay Cineplex Damansara around 7.45pm yesterday. As we walked in the entrance of the ticketing area, aside from the cineplex’s usual ticket counter, there was the Cinema Online booth at the corner of the hall, and it had two counters. One said , “Contest Winners Ticket Redemption” & the other, “Media Registration” with a table full of black Twilight tote bags which had Twilight t-shirts in them, and a CD, which I’m not sure exactly what the content was. Thus, I got excited as I waited in line.

And when it got to my turn, showed my id, the counter girl marked my name in the list (phewwhh!! I was a lil nervous about my name not being in the list!! I was afraid I misread my name on the winners list, LOL! Winner’s paranoia). Then they handed me two cool lookin’ tickets. “Thanks, enjoy the movie!”, the girl said with a smile. Somehow, I still stood there smiling & catching a few glimpses at the bunch of cute tote bags on the table next to them, waiting for MY! Twilight bag.We kept nodding back at each other for about a dozen times, till she greeted the next person in line. Ohh no tote bag for me? I thought.

Turns out the Twilight tote bags were for their GUEST ONLY (yup I asked the lady at the other counter). And who were they’re guests? The friggin media people & their families. I know I sound mean LOL, but it kinda hurt to see a LOT of people whom never even read the book, or even knew the author’s name, carrying those bags. Who knew, people who didn’t even have to work for it,or should I say specifically, DIDN’T even have to crack their brains to come up with a stand-out slogan, are more deserving than ones who actually work their butt off to get em. Psshhffffttt. I guess everyone knew. Some people are just right on, LUCKY. Can’t blame em. I have nothing against them though, that was just a short Twilight fan cry-out, that’s all, haha ;P

Enough about the damn Twilight bags. What did I think of the movie?

First of all, as expected, a lot of scenes, which most of em are actually my favourite, didn’t make it into the movie. For scenes that did, they weren’t that bad, but most of em were altered. I know it’s hard for them to have to cut out a lot of scenes in order to fit the time limit which is about 2 hours. But, I feel like, most of the scenes that they cut out (eventhough slightly irrelevant for the story line) are the little reasons why people love Twilight when they read it. Those little conversations that they have, potrays the real intensity of the connection between Bella & Edward. Sadly, I personally think it wasn’t potrayed enough in the movie.

Somehow, it seemed like everything was happening so fast, Bella & Edward meet, feel some kinda attraction towards one another, Edward saves Bella from an accident and suddenly Bella doesn’t wanna lose Edward (as if they’ve been in love forever). The readers might understand, but if I didn’t read the book, I’ll be like, “Huhh??”.

Aside from that, I think Kristen Stewart played Bella REALLY WELL. She definitely succeeded in potraying Bella’s character exactly the way she is in the book. On the other hand, Robert Pattinson wasn’t fully a convincing Edward. I’m not saying he’s not right for the part, he actually looked & played pretty well, just the parts where he had to put on Edward’s serious awkward looking face, instead of looking mysterious, he kinda’ looked retarded at times, lol, no offense to Robert, but yeahh I feel like he kinda spoilt the idea of Edward’s character. But the rest of the parts, bravo.
Loved it <3

The effects were not as bad as what the movie guy on E News had mentioned about it. It’s just that it had too many close-up shots. Coz yeahh, Twilight involves a lot of staring. The scenery of Forks & La Push were beautiful, handsdown. They added quite a few comedic parts, which was good. I’m also impressed at how good they were, on emphasizing on Bella’s school friends, they were definitely great supporting roles for the movie. And eventhough Taylor Lautner had to wear that shitty wig to play Jacob Black, he still looked cute as ever! *winks*.

Despite all my opinions on it, I still think it was overall a movie worth watching =) I’m more than thankful I got those screening tickets (eventhough, no tote bag), had a blast with Afi.

Can’t wait for New Moon! =D

nape u x mintak je? like asking for it n not asking if it is for u or not. most of the time if u r lucky bole dapat kot sebab diorang memang letak extra. buatla cite sedih, "ala bole la bang, penat saye masok petandingan ni.. mak saya dala jarang2 kasi kuar malam, semlm besday adik saye - die suke twilight ni" just an example la kan....
