Had class in the morning just now. Mahrez was about 15 minutes late. I think I should report to the authorities about it. LOL. Nahh, just kidding.
Anyway, it's the ELECTION season. So everywhere I go I'll be seeing the election candidates passing out their manifestos, and giving speeches to get students to vote for them. I already have a few people in mind. Hehehehee.
Well, what I was trying to say is, that while waiting for Mahrez (my Ordinary Differential Equations lecturer) , 2 candidates came in to handout their manifestos n speeches, handshakes, etc. One malay guy, Hilman, my wise rockin' senior and the other a chinese, my fun & loud coursemate, Derik.
I noticed that, when Hilman came in, the malay guys in my lecture hall were really supportive and obviously they were rooting for him. WHat can I say, Hilman rocks, he's got my support too. And then, Derik came in, somehow the loud little cheery voices came to a smooth pause. On the other hand, I saw my chinese friends smiling and cheering for him. I cheered in my heart of course, haha. Derik makes me proud to be a Telecommunications student, and I support him 100%.
What really came on to me, was when Mahrez went out to call Derik just to get him to clean the white board. I didn't mind Mahrez, asking Derik to do so, as he's our lecturer, and he has his rights. I kinda got pissed when I heard the malay guys on my right, teasing him. I got the message that Derik was using that opportunity to get people to vote for him, so in a way that meant to be a joke,he said, " Don't forget to vote for me, see, I'm doing community work for you guys". ANd then I heard this malay guy saying out loud, "That's not community work, that's a cleaner's job, you're a cleaner, hahaha".
It was SO FUNNY, I forgot to laugh.
How pathetic can people get these days? SO much for all the modernisation. What's a modern &
fast paced developing nation without civillisation?
How narrow-minded can these people get to actually STILL bring up the whole RACISM thing. They don't actually mention it, but their actions are obviously indicating so.
I have loads of friends of other races, and I don't have a problem with any of them. When I'm the only malay in the crowd, I've never felt left out. Maybe a little, but I can still see the effort of trying to make me feel more comfortable.
Sometimes I just feel like grabbing people who still have that caveman mentality and chucking them into a plane to the US or something. Let's see how they deal with the culture shock. Let's see how they deal with the fact of being a MINORITY there.
Serves you right.
