Twilight Screening

So yesterday 26th of November, was the screening of Twilight!!

I was told that the Cinema Online ticket redemption booth is open from 7 to 8.30pm. Afi & I arrived at Cathay Cineplex Damansara around 7.45pm yesterday. As we walked in the entrance of the ticketing area, aside from the cineplex’s usual ticket counter, there was the Cinema Online booth at the corner of the hall, and it had two counters. One said , “Contest Winners Ticket Redemption” & the other, “Media Registration” with a table full of black Twilight tote bags which had Twilight t-shirts in them, and a CD, which I’m not sure exactly what the content was. Thus, I got excited as I waited in line.

And when it got to my turn, showed my id, the counter girl marked my name in the list (phewwhh!! I was a lil nervous about my name not being in the list!! I was afraid I misread my name on the winners list, LOL! Winner’s paranoia). Then they handed me two cool lookin’ tickets. “Thanks, enjoy the movie!”, the girl said with a smile. Somehow, I still stood there smiling & catching a few glimpses at the bunch of cute tote bags on the table next to them, waiting for MY! Twilight bag.We kept nodding back at each other for about a dozen times, till she greeted the next person in line. Ohh no tote bag for me? I thought.

Turns out the Twilight tote bags were for their GUEST ONLY (yup I asked the lady at the other counter). And who were they’re guests? The friggin media people & their families. I know I sound mean LOL, but it kinda hurt to see a LOT of people whom never even read the book, or even knew the author’s name, carrying those bags. Who knew, people who didn’t even have to work for it,or should I say specifically, DIDN’T even have to crack their brains to come up with a stand-out slogan, are more deserving than ones who actually work their butt off to get em. Psshhffffttt. I guess everyone knew. Some people are just right on, LUCKY. Can’t blame em. I have nothing against them though, that was just a short Twilight fan cry-out, that’s all, haha ;P

Enough about the damn Twilight bags. What did I think of the movie?

First of all, as expected, a lot of scenes, which most of em are actually my favourite, didn’t make it into the movie. For scenes that did, they weren’t that bad, but most of em were altered. I know it’s hard for them to have to cut out a lot of scenes in order to fit the time limit which is about 2 hours. But, I feel like, most of the scenes that they cut out (eventhough slightly irrelevant for the story line) are the little reasons why people love Twilight when they read it. Those little conversations that they have, potrays the real intensity of the connection between Bella & Edward. Sadly, I personally think it wasn’t potrayed enough in the movie.

Somehow, it seemed like everything was happening so fast, Bella & Edward meet, feel some kinda attraction towards one another, Edward saves Bella from an accident and suddenly Bella doesn’t wanna lose Edward (as if they’ve been in love forever). The readers might understand, but if I didn’t read the book, I’ll be like, “Huhh??”.

Aside from that, I think Kristen Stewart played Bella REALLY WELL. She definitely succeeded in potraying Bella’s character exactly the way she is in the book. On the other hand, Robert Pattinson wasn’t fully a convincing Edward. I’m not saying he’s not right for the part, he actually looked & played pretty well, just the parts where he had to put on Edward’s serious awkward looking face, instead of looking mysterious, he kinda’ looked retarded at times, lol, no offense to Robert, but yeahh I feel like he kinda spoilt the idea of Edward’s character. But the rest of the parts, bravo.
Loved it <3

The effects were not as bad as what the movie guy on E News had mentioned about it. It’s just that it had too many close-up shots. Coz yeahh, Twilight involves a lot of staring. The scenery of Forks & La Push were beautiful, handsdown. They added quite a few comedic parts, which was good. I’m also impressed at how good they were, on emphasizing on Bella’s school friends, they were definitely great supporting roles for the movie. And eventhough Taylor Lautner had to wear that shitty wig to play Jacob Black, he still looked cute as ever! *winks*.

Despite all my opinions on it, I still think it was overall a movie worth watching =) I’m more than thankful I got those screening tickets (eventhough, no tote bag), had a blast with Afi.

Can’t wait for New Moon! =D

The Win

As I mentioned in my other previous post, I'm trying to get tickets for the Twilight Malaysian premiere on the 27th of November. I found out that, the only way of getting 'em besides being rich and paying off the cinema people or knowing someone from the industry, is to enter the contest at www.cinema.com.my for an even better chance, which is to watch the screening a day before the nationwide release!! :D

We were required to answer two simple questions, and the usual 'not more than 15 words' slogan thingy. I definitely had doubts about entering the contest, coz I was never good at coming up with slogans that are creative enough to attract the judges. But I entered anyway, coz HELLO!! it's Twilight!! It's worth the try, right? LOL.

So, I woke up REALLY early today, since the list of winners were to be posted on the 20th of November, today :)

I'm sure you've guessed it by now.Ohh yess! I won 2 preview passes! Yay-ness!! :)

Mumma Eggy

So, I made myself a friend yesterday. Mum & siblings went for my aunt's wedding yesterday afternoon (I stayed back of course,  seizing the last few hours I had before my last paper), and they came back with the usual traditional egg flowers. Thanks to my aunt for getting married, I met(made) Mumma Eggy :)

Mumma Eggy has big almond-shaped eyes, decorated with her beautiful long lashes :)
She's got the Cleopatra hair-do, due to her keen interest in Roman history, & she's very much in love with King Ceasar, hottstuff ;)

Yup, she loves me, & I love her too. Weeee. Why, you may wonder?

She accompanied me while I studied for my last paper. She stood by my books and cheered me up every now & then when I got stressed out about not being able to answer the friggin exercise questions. She's a pretty good mathematician too, she helped me out with a lot of calculations, and even highlighted the important points <3

And, what do u know? We share the same interest in books! She pretty much enjoys hanging around my bookshelf, checking out my books. We even had a few book discussions, and shared a lot of thoughts. (Psst, she hates Edward Cullen, she loves Jacob Black, just like ME!!)

When she got tired, she took naps in my Lil Nemo. She loved using my thumb drive as her hugging pillow :)

Rest in peace Mumma Eggy 16Nov2008(4pm)-16Nov2008(11.30pm).

I presented her as a gift to Pia last night, when I went to spend the night at her room.
Pia enjoyed her company as much as I did, and so, Mumma Eggy was safely eaten with Maggi's Thai Chilli Sauce that night.

Mumma Eggy will be missed.
Finally, exams are over, a LOT of things to look forward to :)

I Think I Love My Calc

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday, I had my Coding paper, and of all things, I forgot to bring my calculator!

We were all crowding at the door of the examination hall,  putting our bags away , and slowly moving in with the crowd. Sarah & I were having our last chat before the 2hour brain-juicin'. As I was reaching for my transparent pencil  case in my bag, I said to Sarah, "I hope I didn't forget anything", I took those words for granted coz it was usually a routine in my to-do list before entering for exams, and I've NEVER forgotten anything when it comes to bringing the stuff needed for any exam. Lol.

As they say, "there's a first time for everything", coz exactly as I said that, I held up my case and saw that the most vital gadget for that particular paper was absent!! And, I FREAKED! I think at least, 10% of what I studied jumped out of me, as I freaked out. Haha, but Sarah managed to calm me down and the 10% shyly, but slowly went back in :)

I did the paper calmly, marked the parts that needed to be calculated, & half an hour before the time was up, I tried hard to embrace the aura of layers of the thickest of skins & forced myself to raise my hand, and tell the prefect I wanted to borrow Sarah's calculator.

Gosh, that took me quite a while to convince myself of doing, haha. And WALLAA, I managed to complete the paper, no stress :) So, I guess next time, if you ever forget your calculator, don't freak or stress about it, coz there're always other ways you can get it. Just make sure you do it the right & legal-looking way. Yup, do it through the prefects.

And the most important thing is, DON'T FORGET ANYTHING :)

Another thing I forgot to mention weeks ago is, that there's gonna be an Angels & Demons movie! Kinda like a sequel (I think) to The Da Vinci Code. It'll be coming in May 2009. Whoosh!

2 papers left, and I'm excited as heck to sit for em (right)!

Tagged By The Fayya

Still in the midst of the exam season, thus, nothing much to talk about. With that said, I did the survey of which Farah tagged me a few days ago.

A. Attached or Single?
It can mean a lot of things right? I'd say, I'm always attached :)

B. Best Friend?
Zetty, Fadi & Tasya <3

(I think I accidentally erased questions C to P and I'm too rajin to retype the whole thing all over again, my bad!)

Q.Quotes?
I love the one from Coach Carter :
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

and from One Tree Hill :
Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.

R. Reasons to smile?
LOL, I smile about a LOT of things, people mistaken me for a loony :P

S. Season of choice?
It's not like we've got the 4 seasons here (-_-) But I love the colours of Autumn :)

T. Tag people
If you feel like I tagged you, do it :P

U. Unknown fact about me?
Ughh I've had enough with facts.

V. Vegetable?
Leafy & crunchy ones. Kangkung, zoukini, etc.

W. Worst habit?
Friggin skin peeling, lips, fingers (-_-)

Y. Your favorite type of food?
Italian. Actually, I don't have a favourite, I like Japanese too, chee cheong funn, etc. that's why I never really like filling these kinda sections in profiles and stuff, coz I'll have too much to list down, even if there was one in particular, it'll eventually change. What can I say, I'm Universal.

Z. Zodiac sign?
Pisces.

Update! Yeah, the Twilight movie will be premiering in Malaysia on the 27th of Nov. I'm totally psyched about it :) !!

Fadi's trying to help me get premiere tickets, I'm not sure how she's doing, LOL. Well, even if I don't get em , so what. I'll just watch it later on. On the day of the premiere, the cinema'll be crowded anyway, with giddy highschool girls, who're ready to scream & faint for their 'oh-so-hott' vampire hero. Psshhffttt. LOL

Traumatic

Thursday was pretty much traumatic for me.
It was just me, mum, Reda & Farah at home that night.

Farah was asleep, and I was in the computer room with the rest. Basically, all the other parts of the house, especially the living room was deserted. Farah's friends had just left, and so the house gate was left open coz we were expecting my mum's friend. Aside from that, the garage light wasn't switched on, our bad. Yup our bad, the gate left open, the lights, BIG mistake.

That night I witnessed two men attempting to break into our house. Yess, ME for the second time (after our car radio got stolen), it was ME who had to witness it. Sigh. It was effin' scary coz one of them saw my face clearly before I ran into the room to call Reda & my mum. By the time all 3 of us ran out of the room, both the guys took off on their motorcycle. THANK GOD, they didn't manage to get in. It was too dark to even get their number plate. I thought of explaining in detail about what happened, but I don't think that'll be necessary.

(This raya freakin-out raya pic seemed to fit the topic, LOL)

Anyway, we called the police & they came over to check on the house. The rest of the night, we were all silent. LOL, coz we were all still recovering from the shock & suspense of the event. It was pretty hard for me to study that night, coz I couldn't stop replaying the whole thing in my head. Thinking, what could've happened if they DID manage to break in, what were we going to do, etc.We also had a hard time sleeping, coz we started getting really sensitive towards every sound we heard. I'm still going thru that now, takes time to ware off. Sigh~

That night was shitty, but I'm thankful that nothing bad happened.
Coz things could've been worst.

Moving on.
Had my first paper today. Partial Differential Equations-it was okay. Not as homicidal as expected. Got stuck a lil, here & there. I'm not sure how I did, I guess we'll just have to see when the results come out.

So, 1 paper done. Six to go. (-_-")
Ohh, the sepets came back yesterday, but Tiqah had to leave early today :'(
But being able to meet them, pumped me enough for the battlefield :)

Barack Roll

LOL! Look what I found on YouTube! Hahaha.
I Love Barack <3

Rizza Cabrera, Mahal Kita

This whole exam season really bites. Don't think I wanna elaborate on that, coz that'll just make this post all crappy & tense. However, Rizza Cabrera is a recommended stress relief. She definitely brushed off those piles of stress dirt off my shoulders :)

Who's Rizza Cabrera? She's a 16 year old Pillipina music genius. As far as I know, she's not signed to any music labels. Completely independent. Writes her own lyrics, composes her own songs, plays her own instruments, ALL HER. I've spoken to her once or twice on AIM and Yahoo, and she's one of the most down to earth people I know. Haven't messaged her for quite a while though.

This is my absolute favourite piece from her. No, it's not a cover, it's an ORIGINAL. When this video was first posted, I couldn't stop replaying over & over. I just LOVE her voice & her work. It's got the aura of relaxation :) Like this morning, I kinda woke up all grumpy-fied & streeessssed out. Surfed Youtube (the usual, hehhs), and Rizza posted a new video!

Pay close attention to the lyrics. LOL, love em! Wish I could write like her :)

Well, if you've got a YouTube account, go subscribe, if you don't, checkin out her other videos at Cabreezzah would definitely be worth your time :)

I've been subscribed to her for quite some time now, and she never fails to amaze me.
Wohohhhoo, mahal kita Rizza <3

Yay for Obama!

I am more than happy for him. Not just because he's the first African-American President (yes, he made history alright, ecstatic about that too), but he seems promising (good heart) , and the United States of America is definitely gonna be different now, in a GOOD way. A waaaay better America in the making, because of this humble man. I was disappointed when Al Gore didn't win years back (when he was no doubt the right man for it), but this news deserves a major crowd wave. Whoosh!

I've been following news & stories about him ever since he was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show last year, right before he started campaigning as a candidate for president. Wish I could write more about him, but the timing sucks & I'm just too tied up. But all in all, Congratulations Obama!, McCain's a great man too, either one of them would've been a massive positive change for the country, but as they say, the BEST man wins :)

Kudos to the US, coz I'd be way grateful to have Obama as the M'sian PM, huhu (-_-")

I Still Love Hayden

If you didn't know (who doesn't?), she's the girl who plays the cheerleader in the series, Heroes. She was also the main chick in my favourite Bring It On movie, All Or Nothing and numerous other movies :)

Recently, she just started singing, uhh the typical 'actor tries singing' experiment. Yesterday I came across her music video on YouTube, & I was excited to see how she sounds. Maybe you should check it out first so you'll get what I'm talking about later on :

Okaaay. When I first saw it, I thought she sounded kinda funny (especially the first part!). It also sounds pretty similar to Paris Hilton's first song, 'Stars Are Blind', with the whole island vibe (but I think Hayden's sounds better, the rap was a definite plus!).And the whole music video act seemed unnatural compared to her mad acting skills on screen. I was like, "Aww man, a lot of people love her, now they're gonna start dissing her for this".

Despite all the weirdness of the whole music video & the singing, the song wouldn't stop playing over and over in my head. LOL! Karma (-_-)

Well, to actually think back about it, and really listen to the song, she doesn't sound THAT bad. Good effort though, with more singing & music video making experience, I'm sure she'll eventually be able to survive the music industry. She's got her bombastic acting career to back her up. I can accept that, & still love her <3

I'm sure her fans will too ;)

Back to studying, woot! (-_-")

Me, Rough Chick?

Mum was fasting today, so I cooked her an egg wrap with chopped mushroom sausages & onions. Deee-licious! Just felt like preparing something filling & presentable for her since she's been fasting for the past week. Also, because we never really cook much during weekdays since there's just the four of us (Farah, Reda, Mum & myself).

Usually, my mum'll prepare a dish in the morning before she goes out to run her errands, which usually lasts till afternoon meals. And when it's finished, it's up to us to prepare whatever we want when we feel like eating. It's not a bad thing though, we're used to it. Besides, it keeps our buts moving in the house, instead of just lazing around & eating food we didn't make ourselves. Moreover! It gives us something to look forward to during the weekend :) Coz then, we'll be cooking biig with the addition of Afi & Papeeto :) Even better! When Tiqah comes back :D

Speaking of cooking! I was just texting with Fadi yesterday & we were talking about having a cookout together after exams. Yaay! Definitely looking forward to that one :)

Accompanied mum to send Afi back to college in the afternoon, and finally got my Bebe flops fixed! Hahaha, I have these pair of Bebe platform-like flip flops (RM100 plus retail price, which fyi, I'd never spend that much on flops) which I got from the Salvation Army for like RM3. Looove it much, very comfy!

Somehow, I've been such a rough chick (I blame the hills in campus!!), and I wrecked it like, a gazillion times. The first time, I was walking up the hill to get into the car, and the steepness of the hill caused a really fast reflex to my ankle, and it bent (hurt like shizz!) & totally wripped the flops.

Fortunately, we had our regular cobler who managed to fix it :)
The second time, I was trying to avoid a gutter, BAMM! wripped again. Fixed it again (-_-)
After that, it wripped about 2-3 times, I was already embarrassed to send it to the cobler, I forced my mom to send it, hahaha. So now, eventhough it looks much abused, I get to wear em still :) Hopefully this time, it WON'T happen again *fingers crossed*

Alrightee then! Here's a Johnny Cash song I love, 'Ring Of Fire' played by my favourite Youtube musician, JCvanluyn :

4 days left till my first paper. Whoossh! (-_-")
Ohh! Also, I watched Highschool Musical 3 with the sibs last week, BEST GILE! :D
